Experts like N9 Plumbers have the relevant skills to carry out all plumbing work and provide peace of mind guarantees for all jobs.

Two types of CH pumps are in use at the moment in most systems. The first one is called a fix headed pump and the second one is called a variable headed. The fix headed runs at single speed pump will run at a single speed, which will make the hot water run around the system at a constant rate. The speed of variable headed pumps is adjustable. On installing a variable headed pump the installer such as an N9 Plumber will balance the radiators, and adjust the speed achieved by the pump to find the most effective temperature for every room. If there is any doubts about trying this yourself, call a professional plumber.

If a room’s temperature cannot be altered by opening the radiator’s valve, then it can be adjusted by varying the speed at which the pump is running. Before adjusting the pump, you must make sure that all your radiators are showing the same temperature drop. To confirm this, you can buy thermometers that to clip on the radiators and indicate the temperatures. Connect one of these thermometers to the feed pipe just below the radiator valve and the other one to the return pipe, also below its valve. The temperature difference should be around 11°C (20°F). If not, close the lockshield valve slightly to increase the difference in temperature or open the valve to reduce it. Now the balance is correct, now adjust the pump’s speed slowly and in small turns until the required temperature of the radiators is found. Switch off the pump before making each adjustment. Any doubts don’t hesitate to contact a professional service.
